Additional Amphetamine Type Stimulant Training sessions have been scheduled for the day prior to the Anex 09 Australian Drugs Conference.
ATS Training will be conducted on Wednesday 30 September at the Anex office in Melbourne.
• Introduction to Amphetamine Type Stimulants: 10.00 am – 1.00 pm
• Advanced Amphetamine Type Stimulants: 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm
Scholarships are available to assist frontline staff with travel and accommodation expenses to attend the pre-Conference training session/s. There is no cost to attend the training itself. Scholarships do not include the cost of registration for the Conference.

Anex has received funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing under the Amphetamine Type Stimulants (ATS) Grants Program to deliver training. The training package will develop the capacity of frontline staff who have contact with people who use ATS to:
- Better respond to the needs of clients
- Provide early brief interventions and
- Provide referral to support services
Building the capacity of frontline services through this project will involve:
- Improving knowledge of ATS
- Improving knowledge and understanding of the potential harms associated with ATS use
- Improving knowledge of, and confidence in providing, strategies to reduce harms associated with ATS use
- Improving skills and confidence to work effectively with people who use ATS
These objectives will be achieved through:
- The targeted promotion of the training package to appropriate frontline services staff including but not limited to:
- Needle & Syringe Programs
- Alcohol & Other Drug Services
- Mental Health Services
- Social Work
- Youth Services
- Indigenous Organisations
- Housing and emergency accommodation services
- Input from the Project Reference Group consisting of key stakeholders
- Development of a training package comprised of introductory and advanced level sessions, allowing for varying degrees of knowledge and experience amongst frontline services staff
- Delivery of training sessions at the introductory and advanced level in metropolitan, regional and rural locations in each state and territory across Australia
