Do you work with young people using or at risk of using Amphetamine Type Stimulants (ATS) – speed, meth, ice or ecstasy?
Do you want to know more about how to help young people manage the risks that go with ATS use?
Anex is delivering training on this topic to youth workers across Victoria during the month of June. Anyone currently working with young clients using (or at risk of using) ATS is welcome to attend. You will be able to increase your understanding of ATS, update knowledge on current issues specific to youth work and develop more effective ways to work with clients.
One 3 hour session will be delivered in Melbourne, Geelong, Shepparton, Morwell and Albury-Wodonga.
Anex has received funding from FebFast to deliver training. The training will develop the capacity of frontline youth workers who have contact with young people who use ATS to:
- Better respond to the needs of clients
- Provide early brief interventions and
- Provide referral to support services
Building the capacity of youth workers through this project will involve:
- Improving knowledge of ATS
- Improving knowledge and understanding of the potential harms associated with ATS use
- Improving knowledge of, and confidence in providing, strategies to reduce harms associated with ATS use
- Improving skills and confidence to work effectively with young people who use ATS
At the completion of the project youth workers will have a better knowledge of available information resources for ATS use. Anex will support attendees with information provided through Anex publications such as the Anex Bulletin, the Anex website and an electronic information exchange. Anex’s training department also provides ongoing telephone support.
If you wish to receive electronic updates on the training please email info@amphetamines.org.au.
